Q&A with Coach Tony Robinson
Home Town: Soperton, GA
Years coaching experience: 8
Playing honors: Played in four Bowl Games - Carquest, Gator (2) and Chic-Fil-a Peach.
Biggest football influence: My coach at age eight, Wayne Sumner. He was more than just a coach, he was a father figure, motivational speaker and friend. He saw potential in me that not many others saw and he nurtured that. He went out of his way to make sure that I did the right things, and went to the right places.
Player you liken yourself to past or present: There are two - Reggie White and John Randle. Both played the Defensive End position with the toughness and grit needed to play an interior position like Defensive Tackle or Nose Guard. These guys had high motors and were relentless in their pursuit of the football.
Favorite NFL team: Atlanta Falcons born and bred
Three words that best describe you: Firm, fair, consistent.
Leaders you admire (football and non-football): My College Head Coach George O’Leary, and Jack Welch, they are both straight forward, tell it like it is guys.
Three dinner guests: Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Joe Heisman and Bobby Dodd.
